Be Alert and Dress Students to Prevailing Weather Conditions
smallschoolsmal.jpg
Minnesota is a state which enjoys widely varying weather conditions. As the seasons change students will encounter weather conditions that vary from summer heat and humidity to winter weather with potentially extreme cold windchill temperatures.

Students walking to school, and traveling to or waiting at the school bus stop, will encounter inclement weather conditions ranging

from sun to rain to heavy snow.  These weather conditions affect students walking to school and waiting for school buses.

It is critical that parents be aware of the weather conditions predicted for the Saint Paul area and dress their children accordingly. Bad weather can produce traffic conditions which make buses ruin very late. Inclement weather slows traffic, results in accidents,

and creates tieups which back up traffic. Winter weather conditions result in stuck vehicles which block streets and can make pickup points inacessable.

It is critical that each student have an emergency plan if the bus is very late or does not come.  This plan should include an emeregncy alternate location, such as a neighbor, for the child to go to for shelter.
