Minimum School Bus Driver Training Requirements
234. Bus Driver's Training - Inexperienced Newly Hired Drivers
All new drivers who are hired to operate under this contract who do not have verifiable experience in the operation of school buses or heavy commercial (CDL class) vehicles must receive a minimum of twenty (20) hours of classroom training and an additional ten (10) hours of behind the wheel training in a program approved by the District Transportation Safety Coordinator. At a minimum, the training must cover all areas specified in the Minimum School Bus Driver Training Standards contained in these Specifications.

235. Bus Driver's Training - Experienced Newly Hired Drivers
Training for newly hired drivers who have verified experience in school bus driving, or operation of heavy commercial vehicles, must be commensurate with their level of previous experience. Each contractor must ensure that all newly hired experienced drivers are familiar with District policies, guidelines, and operating procedures. The contractor must also verify through a proper check ride that the driver is competent to operate equipment under this contract.
