THE SCHOOL BUS STUDENT CROSSING GATE

The contract for transportation services between the School District and our school bus contractors requires that each school bus be equipped with a student crossing gate.  The crossing gate is mounted to the front bumper of the school bus and automatically extends at a right angle to the bumber when the eight-light system is active and the entrance door is open.

The crossing gate forces students who cross the road in front of the school bus to do so within the visual field of the school bus driver.
