This program is designed to provide the Reasionable Suspecion training for detecting alcohol misuse and controlled substances use required under 49CFR for supervisors of drivers of commercial vehicles.
The program, produced by J. J. Keller, shows supervisors what to look for when determining reasonable suspicion. The program illustrates a variety of scenarios, demonstrates proper procedures to follow, and explains:
* Common symptoms of alcohol misuse and controlled substance abuse * What kinds of observations supervisors need to make * How to document observations * How to approach suspected drivers * Who must conduct the testing * How to respect drivers' privacy

Impaired
The commercial vehicle driver's comments and actions during a routine inspection can be key indicators to possible us of controlled substances. In this video the viewer visits busy inspection facilities and ports of entries to see the indicators that busy inspectors look for that lead they to believe a commercial driver may be impaired. The viewer also rides along with an officer doing commercial vehicle traffic interdictions and shows what tips him off to impaired drivers.

Inspecting Hydraulic Brake systems
Most school buses use hydraulic brake systems. Hydraulic brakes present a different challenge to an inspector. This program shows the key points that a person inspecting a hydraulic brake equipped vehicle should be checking.
