School Bus Driver Stamp Project On the morning of March 2, 2005 an event occurred in Stewart County, Tennessee that shocked and saddened the Pupil Transportation Community. Joyce Gregory, a school bus driver for the Stewart County Schools, was making one of her regular stops in Cumberland City Tennessee when a 15 year-old student boarded the school bus and shot and killed Ms. Gregory. Following the murder the Tennessee Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) initiated a campaign for a new United States Postal Service stamp to recognize Ms. Gregory and all of our nation's school bus drivers. TAPT has enlisted the help of National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) to seek support from the pupil transportation community and state and national educational service organizations to request that the Postal Service create and issue a postage stamp honoring the nation's school bus drivers. You can help to make this project a reality by writing a letter of support to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee. TAPT has created a web site with information about the project. The site contains information on the history of the project and Joyce Gregory, as well as sample letters to the Stamp Advisory Committee.
